Evening in the desert
In the late afternoon you leave the city. After 40 minutes the traffic ends, and only sand remains. Dinner under the open sky: a long table, lanterns, a menu with nothing of the tourist programme about it. Once the sun is gone, it turns cool and very quiet. She sits beside you with a shawl over her shoulders, and for the first time in days there is no screen, no message, no appointment. On the drive back, the skyline reappears as though it were a mirage.
